Interview with Daejha Milan - founder of AFFLv

I had a chance to interview an exceptional woman, founder of Adult Film Festival  - Daejha Milan.

MN: Could you introduce yourself and tell us a little about the AFFLV?

Daejha Milan: I was brought into the Industry by Ron Jeremy and Tawny Oceans in January of 1999. I came into the era of the VHS and DVD. I saw the transition of the internet when it killed the DVD. Fortunately for me, I was already shooting for internet content and for the big companies. So for me, the transition was painless. In 2007 I began producing and eventually in 2013 AFFLV was created.

AFFLV is the first and only event of its kind! It will be held March 18-19, 2017 at the Erotic Heritage Museum in Las Vegas, NV. Adult films submitted throughout the year will be shown by the producers. There will be seminars, Porn Stars, Web Stars, and an After-Party with Live Band "Fans of Jimmy Century” with a $15.00 admission fee. Also a bouncy house with girls to jump with the attendees and much more!. This will be a perfect opportunity for fans to take pics with their favorite nude stars. MN: How did you come up with an idea for AFFLV? What motivated you to do this?

Daejha Milan: I have a friend who works for a large movie studio in Hollywood. We were talking and he asked me if our Industry had a film festival. I told him no we didn't. We planned to do AFFLV together but in the end, he was too busy in production. He was not available for the planning, managing or implementing any aspect of AFFLV. So 8 months after we had this idea, I went ahead with executing AFFLV, that was in October of 2013. My motivation for doing this is my love for this Industry and for those who have a passion for what they do. I love helping people. Especially those who help themselves.

MN: Could you tell us a bit about how the festival evolved in its years of existence?

Daejha Milan: This is our 2nd year. I learned a lot by putting the first event on.

MN: How has the AFFLV changed since it’s beginning?

Daejha Milan: The first event was in October of 2015 and it was held at the Cashman Field Convention Center. Although it was way too much space for a first-year event, it helped me get established in the minds of the Industry's Power Players who sponsored and supported AFFLV. Showing them just how serious I was about this event and my level of dedication.

MN: Is any year different? Or you have similar script each year?

Daejha Milan: This year we are doing the 2nd Event in March. The Erotic Heritage Museum is hosting AFFLV. Even though the location has been downsized, we have actually upgraded a number of activities and things that we can do because it is the Sex Museum and they are permitted to do things, unlike other Adult Events. For example, sex is actually allowed in the museum. So I decided to allow our attendees the opportunity to take nude pics with their favorite stars. Yes, there will be naked Porn Stars taking pics with their fans.....for a small fee of course. Tickets can be purchased during AFFLV.

MN: Do you have any favorite or particularly memorable year of the AFFLV you could tell us about?

Daejha Milan: We are headed into our 2nd event. Ask me again next year (wink)

MN: How many participants have submitted films to be a part of the festival this year?

Daejha Milan: We have had a great response from filmmakers and just like last year's film screening lineup, this year will not disappoint!
 

MN: What are the qualifications for the selected films?

Daejha Milan:: All films must fall within a certain time frame depending on the category. All submissions must have good quality lighting, a script (no gonzo or compilation scenes) and be shot on a good quality camera. More info can be found at www.afflv.com.

MN: What would you expect to experience if you attend the festival this year (2017)?

Daejha Milan: You used the right word when you said "Experience" because that is exactly what AFFLV is..... an experience.

MN: Where do you see the festival by 2020?

Daejha Milan: I see AFFLV evolving as each year passes and our attendance eventually growing to the size of the more established events in our Industry. My main goal is to maintain and continue to build an amazing relationship with our film makers, exhibitors, sponsors, stars and fans/attendees, as each year passes. When someone thinks of AFFLV I want them to compare us to The Sundance Film Festival of Adult Films.
